ICE CREAM!

Since I started blogging, I've heard all of my pals talk about how much they LOVE ice cream, and I could never add my thoughts as Mom and Dad never let me have any...until few days ago that is! Mom and Dad took me for a nice long walkie and we stopped off at the local Dairy Queen for some ice cream! And guess what,I go my own soft serve in a cup! Wooo Hooo!!

Mom and Dad thought it was best to start simply and get me some soft serve vanilla in a cup. At first, I didn't know what to do, so Mom helped me out my giving me a few spoonfuls.
Mmmm that's good, so yummy!
Let me try this by myself, I think I've got it now.
Oh yeah, ice cream is totally pawsome. Now, I know what you've all been raving about. Yummers!
Thanks Mom and Dad, I love ice cream, it's the best! No need to wipe off my beard, I'm keeping some ice cream on it for later.
I sure hope you all get to have some ice cream real soon!

Memorial Day Weekend & my Meme

In my family, Memorial Day Weekend is always the kickoff to cottage season! This means we load up our cars and leave the Chicagoland area and head to Michigan. What I love most about cottage season is all the dogs in the family are in one place! Wooo Hooo!

This year was especially exciting as Mom's cousin got his own dog, a Mini Pincher named Layla! Check out Layla below. She's a small thing, but she is one tough cookie with all of us big dogs. Look, the football is almost bigger than her!

We spend lots of time running around the deck and backyard. Since I don't have my own yard at home, I sure love to run round and round and round at the cottage. In the picture below you will see the two Huskies. Bailey is the white/caramel colored one and Stormy is the grey/white one.
And of course, the king of the family was there. Spencer, the eldest dog, but still the sweetie he has always been. Spence is on his new medication that helps with his achy hind legs. He has been in wonderful spirits since he started taking the new meds. Go Spence!!
Cottage time also means swimming in Lake Paw Paw (name is fitting, isn't it). I jumped right on in and was off and paddling.
I could fetch my aqua Kong for hours, but that doesn't mean I'll give it back to Mom or Dad.
Here, Layla is enjoying her first boat ride. I hope she loves the wind in her ears just as much as I do. While she was enjoying the wind, I was sneaking ice cubes out of the cooler. He he!!
I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Oh, I can not forget that my Aussie friend Noah tagged me for the About Me Meme!

Here are the rules: The rules of the game get posted at the beginning. Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player than tags 4 or 5 people and post their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you have posted your answer.

1. What was I doing 10 years ago?I wasn't even born yet. Neither was my doggy Mom or Dad or Grandmas or Grandpas. He he!

2. What are the 5 things on my to do list for today: Wake Mom up when she doesn't get up to her alarm, go outside and great all pups of the neighborhood, nap on my couch waiting for Mom to get home from work, go to agility class and try to steal a bully stick on my way out of agility class.

3. Snacks I enjoy: CHEESE, salmon treats, peanut butter and anything that Mom and Dad are eating.

4. Things I would do if I were a billionaire: With all that money, I would find a way for every homeless animal to have a home, so no more animals have to be scared and lonely. I'd also want Mom and Dad to be home with me all the time, so we could always have FUN!

5. Three of my bad habits: I jump up on people when I'm greeting them, I cry/whine for no reason ALL the time and I'm food obsessive, if you've got food with you, I'm gonna be all over you!

6. Five places I have lived: I've only lived with my breeder and then with my Mom and Dad in Chi-town.

7. Five jobs I have had: Official greeter for all dogs on my street, cutest grand dog ever, alarm clock dog for Mom, jogging partner for Dad and mascot for my building.

I'm gonna go all Airedale on my tag, so Bogart, Deetz, Maggie, Mitch and Stanley if you've already been tagged, I apologize. I'm behind on my blog reading, so I don't know who's been tagged already.

Doolin's Birthday Pawty!

Last weekend was my pal Doolin's 1st birthday pawty. Her Mom had her party at a totally excellent doggy place called the Bark Bark Club. We got three hours of play time, treats, toys and best of all cake! Doolin's Mom, Donna, hooked up the hoomans as well. She had foodables for them and all kinds of drinks. Wooo Hooo, it was a great time.

Here is the guest of honor, our birthday girl, Doolin! Isn't she just so cute!!
Here, Donna is trying to keep the pups away from the human food, while I'm busy munching on my new toy.
Hey Doolin, don't steal that from me. That's my toy!!
We'll do ANYTHING for a treat! Notice, my bandage over my ouchie. Mom and Dad didn't want it getting all messed up during the pawty.
Party hat, I'm not waring no stinkin' party hat!

Ah, nothing beats playtime with some bitey face and roachin'.
Thank you so much for including me in your pawty Doolin. I had the BEST time! Oh, my bandage kept coming off my ouchie, so Dad put a tee on me to keep my wound clean. Don't I look funny?

The best part of the pawty was the cake. Donna decided we could all have at it in the middle of the floor, minus a few slices for the not so friendly dogs. Check out the chaos that ensued, and what I pig I was once I got in the melee.

I sure hope we can do this again sometime soon Doolin!!!

Got a boo boo

On Thursday night, Mom was playing with me when she felt a lump on my back. She checks me pretty often for lumps & bumps, so she new this was new. Her and Dad agreed to see if the bump would decrease in size overnight. In the morning, Dad noticed that my bump was now bleeding and had puss leaking out. Eeeewwww. Dad cleaned my yucky spot up, but it just kept getting yucky, so off to the vet I went. Yes, another visit with Dr. Marks (not that I minded!) Dr. Marks agreed that my bump needed to be cleaned up and really looked at.
After they shaved me down (a square smack in the middle of my back) and drained out the yucky stuff they found a puncture wound! It seems when I was playing with my pal Lucky, his tooth punctured my skin. Dad was shocked as I never made a sound, so now I'm his 'tough' guy. Luckily, no stitches were needed, but now I've got a bald square on my back with a big old scab smack in the middle. I've gotten plenty of weird looks when I've been out on my walks.
Don't worry about me, I'm totally fine and acting crazy, as usual! I just can't wait till my hair grows back, so I can look normal again!

National Stuffie Appreciation Day

Mr. T-Bone Beasley has proclaimed today as National Stuffie Appreciation Day! I love all of my stuffies so much, well, at least the ones I haven't killed yet. He he! So, I've decided to share some of my favorites.

These are my very first stuffies. Mom and Dad drove super far to come get me and made sure I had plenty of toys to enjoy during the car ride home. Too bad I was too tired to play.
This is my grunty moose. I got him for my first Christmas. He is on of my oldest stuffies that is still in chewable condition.
I absolutely LOVE my squeaky frisbee. I've gone through several over the last year. I keep eating them and Mom keeps replacing them. When will she learn?
Here's a nice shot of me and a few stuffies with my bin 'o' stuffies behind me. If you look closely, you can see my big stuffed dog and big stuffed hippo next to the toy bin. I LOVE my hippo. I think it may be my most favorite stuffie of all. He's a great stuffie to chew on and toss around, and he fills in when I'm a bit (ahem) frisky.
If you look at my rear, you can see a stuffed Reese's cup. This stuffie is very special to me as Grandma & Grandpa's Airedale, Savannah, gave it to me just days before she crossed the rainbow bridge. Thanks Savannah, I still treat it with respect and promise not to rip it open. Here's one of my newer stuffies. It's the bear my Mom and Dad brought me back from the Cubs game, when they left me all alone! The bear has lost her tail, but otherwise remains intact. He he!
To celebrate spring FINALLY arriving, Mom got me a flower stuffie. To make it a manly flower, she got a blue one. This stuffie has a great squeaker that I love to chew on and squeak over and over and over...
Hope you enjoyed a quick look at my stuffies. I hope you all take a minute today to truly appreciate your stuffies and all the joy they provide us.

Bark InThe Park 2008!

Saturday was the 14th annual Bark in the Park charity walk benefiting the Anti-Cruelty Society here in Chicago. Mom and Dad leashed me up early, and off we went. The 3.2 mile walk is held along the Chicago lakefront at Montrose harbor. The Anti-Cruelty Society is a great organization that WE love to support. Last year they found homes for over 5,700 animals and spay/neutered over 13,000 animals! Woo Hoo! I love nothing more than helping homeless animals find loving homes like mine!
We were near the very front of the pack of walkers. Over 3,000 walkers were expected, so we got up front early. We were hoping to get on TV, but they scanned right around us. DARN, maybe next year!
Look at all those people and their pooches! People who have kitties were encouraged to make buttons that had their kitties pictures and their names. They were so cool.
As we were walking along, I met this guy. At first I thought he was a pony, but nope, he swears he's a dog just like me. Just like me? Not quite buddy.
We had a good pace going, but Mom kept stopping to take pictures. Come on woman, hurry up. There are all kinds of treats at the end!
Once I finished the walk, I headed over to the agility area. My agility instructor, Stacey Hawk was running the agility course. I was kind of bummed that I had to stay on leash, but there were all kinds of dogs on the course, so for safety's sake we were all on lead.
Ahhh, where is my teacher with the cheese?
Guess who was at the event? My most favorite dogtor ever, Dr. Marks. She had to leave her pug Clyde at home since she was working the event, so I was a bit sad. I met Clyde at the Paws walk last fall and we became buds. Dr. Marks said that I was looking good and that the dog diet must be working as I was looking slimmer. We'll see what the scale shows. Thanks for the kisses Dr. Marks, you know I love ya!
After the walk, we checked out all the booths with yummy treats, toys and all kinds of great dog organizations. I put on the charm at each booth to scam some treats. We got my paw prints taken, but skipped the dog massage this year. I had one last year, but was so excited, that I spent the whole time wiggling, so Mom said not this year buddy. We hit the food tent and I enjoyed some apple while Mom and Dad ate donuts and bagels, so not fair!
Oh, while I was checking out all the booths, I found the Fresh Pet booth, where they were giving out samples of their Deli Fresh roll. Mom commented how she remembers seeing Deli Fresh on Bogarts' blog, and so she told the marketing girl, and you know what? They gave my Mom a free roll to take home for me! Woo Hoo, I'm gonna drop Bogarts name everywhere if it gets me full size freebies! Bogart, you are the best! Thanks for helping me to score free treats! As we were ready to head home, it began to rain, so I was quite happy that I did everything I wanted and I was going to stay dry! What a great day and a great way to help less fortunate animals!

Left home alone

So, earlier this week, Mom came home from work early, I got fed early and taken on a nice long walk, and then they left me. That's right, they up and left me and went to the Cubs game! How could they?
I decided I'd let Mom and Dad share some of their pictures from the game. I guess I'm just that sweet of a dog. He he! Mom and Dad had bleacher seats, so they had a good view of the entire game. This is Mom's pic of her favorite cubby, Ryan Theriot.
The famous Wrigley Field scoreboard
The Cubs bats were hot that night, they won 19-5! With all that hitting, Mom and Dad didn't get home till real late, and by then, I really had to go!
Mom felt bad about leaving me for so long, so she got me a little something at the game. Check it out, it's a GIRL cubby bear!
I don't care if it's a girl or a boy, it's good chewing no matter what!
Woo Hoo, thanks Mom and Dad! Next time, take me with you!!
'Till next time,
Kirby
