Memorial Day Weekend & my Meme

In my family, Memorial Day Weekend is always the kickoff to cottage season! This means we load up our cars and leave the Chicagoland area and head to Michigan. What I love most about cottage season is all the dogs in the family are in one place! Wooo Hooo!

This year was especially exciting as Mom's cousin got his own dog, a Mini Pincher named Layla! Check out Layla below. She's a small thing, but she is one tough cookie with all of us big dogs. Look, the football is almost bigger than her!

We spend lots of time running around the deck and backyard. Since I don't have my own yard at home, I sure love to run round and round and round at the cottage. In the picture below you will see the two Huskies. Bailey is the white/caramel colored one and Stormy is the grey/white one.
And of course, the king of the family was there. Spencer, the eldest dog, but still the sweetie he has always been. Spence is on his new medication that helps with his achy hind legs. He has been in wonderful spirits since he started taking the new meds. Go Spence!!
Cottage time also means swimming in Lake Paw Paw (name is fitting, isn't it). I jumped right on in and was off and paddling.
I could fetch my aqua Kong for hours, but that doesn't mean I'll give it back to Mom or Dad.
Here, Layla is enjoying her first boat ride. I hope she loves the wind in her ears just as much as I do. While she was enjoying the wind, I was sneaking ice cubes out of the cooler. He he!!
I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Oh, I can not forget that my Aussie friend Noah tagged me for the About Me Meme!

Here are the rules: The rules of the game get posted at the beginning. Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player than tags 4 or 5 people and post their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you have posted your answer.

1. What was I doing 10 years ago?I wasn't even born yet. Neither was my doggy Mom or Dad or Grandmas or Grandpas. He he!

2. What are the 5 things on my to do list for today: Wake Mom up when she doesn't get up to her alarm, go outside and great all pups of the neighborhood, nap on my couch waiting for Mom to get home from work, go to agility class and try to steal a bully stick on my way out of agility class.

3. Snacks I enjoy: CHEESE, salmon treats, peanut butter and anything that Mom and Dad are eating.

4. Things I would do if I were a billionaire: With all that money, I would find a way for every homeless animal to have a home, so no more animals have to be scared and lonely. I'd also want Mom and Dad to be home with me all the time, so we could always have FUN!

5. Three of my bad habits: I jump up on people when I'm greeting them, I cry/whine for no reason ALL the time and I'm food obsessive, if you've got food with you, I'm gonna be all over you!

6. Five places I have lived: I've only lived with my breeder and then with my Mom and Dad in Chi-town.

7. Five jobs I have had: Official greeter for all dogs on my street, cutest grand dog ever, alarm clock dog for Mom, jogging partner for Dad and mascot for my building.

I'm gonna go all Airedale on my tag, so Bogart, Deetz, Maggie, Mitch and Stanley if you've already been tagged, I apologize. I'm behind on my blog reading, so I don't know who's been tagged already.

'Till next time,
Kirby

Tags and Road Trips

I've been given the Whippet Challenge by Butchy and Snickers.

Patience and her Whippets have challenged all of us!
Here is her challenge:
I'm challenging bloggers to make something, anything, and post about it. Let's see what you creative people come up with! Here are the rules:
1. Make something, anything. It doesn't have to be complicated or artsy. Make a list, take an interesting picture, make some one's day, make dinner, make a doodle, make fun of yourself, make a poem, make your bed (OK, that last one is lame).2. Write a blog about it. With pictures for extra brownie points.3. Link to this blog and challenge six other bloggers to do the same.

So, Mom admits she is not very creative and doesn't make too many things, so we decided to make some chicken noodle soup together. I chose this as I love everything that goes into the soup!

Mom couldn't handle the camera why she sliced and diced, so here is our finished product as it simmered. I can vouch that the celery and carrots were fresh, as I sampled each one (several times)!

That's right Mom, give me that noodle!
Once the soup was ready, Mom put some in my bowl! How GREAT is that!!
What's this? I have to sit and wait before I chow down, so unfair!!
Mmmmm nothing beats homemade chicken noodle soup. This is so good.
Thanks for including me Butchy and Snickers. I loved cooking (and eating ) with Mom! I'm supposed to challenge another six dogs, but I've seen so many of you who have already done this challenge, so if you'd like to participate, consider your self tagged!

In other news, I am so excited. This weekend I'm taking a road trip with my parents up to Milwaukee to....see Keeley! I have been invited up to see Keeley in the fur for his second birthday party! Mom and I have picked out our gifts for the birthday boy, and I can't wait to deliver them in person. This will be my first live meeting with a fellow DWBer! Yeah!! Mom promises to take lots and lots of pictures and to post about the wonderful time I'm sure we'll have!

'Till next time,

Kirby

Playing Catch Up Again

So, Mom had to go on another business trip last week, so now we are playing catch up (again).

I'm honored that my lovely pal Putter has awarded me this Golden Rose. Thank you so much Putter. I am so excited that you would think of me!!

I would like to pass it on to my pals Bogart, Faya and Keeley! You guys and girl are great friends, thank you for being such wonderful blogging pals!!

Now, on to other business, we've been tagged quite a few times already, so here we go:

Maggie & Mitch and Happy all tagged me to share with you seven annoyances that I have.

1) I hate when Mom and Dad put me in the way back of the car. Who do they think they are leaving the middle seat up between us?

2) When my bowl is empty I'm not a happy camper.

3) I get quite annoyed when the vacuum makes an appearance. I bark, I paw, I bite at it, yet it keeps on going!

4) I hate waiting to get my Christmas presents. Mom has them all boxed up in the office and I'm not supposed to sniff or peak. What's a dog to do?

5) I do not like to get humped by other dogs. I don't hump other dogs (just my giant stuffed toys!), so why should I get humped?

6) I get annoyed when other dogs won't play with me. I love to play and just can't understand why they don't wanna play too.

7) My biggest annoyance is the word NO. I hear it far too often and it usually means bad things.

Molly & Taffy and Lenny all tagged me to share eight random facts about myself:

1) I was born in Kaukauna, WI, but moved to Chicago at 7 weeks old. No Packer fan here, I'm a proud Chicago Bears dog!

2) I had a rough first year. I had pneumonia, e-coli, panosteitis and several other issues. No problems, I'm all good now!

3) I wasn't supposed to go to my Mom and Dad. I was promised to another man, but he switched jobs and felt he couldn't care for a puppy, so Mom and Dad were moved up on the waiting list, and were invited to come and get me!

4) I rarely bark. I'm more of a whiner and crier. Only when I'm really excited do I bark.

5) I'm known as the class clown in my agility class. I could be perfect all class then do something so silly, everyone bursts our laughing.

6) I'm known as a bit of a chunky monkey. I lose a few pounds then I gain them back. I'm a food loving dog!

7) I'm the only dog in my condo building. I have to go up and down the street to find my neighborhood pals!

8) I love my Mommy the most! Dad may be home with me everyday and take me on the majority of my walks, but I'm a mommas boy through and through. I wait at the door each day for her to come home!

I have no clue who has and hasn't been tagged, so if you haven't feel free to share!
