Fun at Grandma & Grandpa's!

A couple of weekends ago, Mom, Dad and I packed up the car and headed off to Grandma and Grandpa's for the day. When I go to their house it is pure fun. They spoil me rotten and I get to run wild on their 10 acres, plus they have a lake to swim in. Wooo hoooh!

As soon as I arrived, I took off for a run in their yard. I'm a city dog, so they have got a lot of grass to run and graze on. He he!
My Uncle John is always willing to play with me, so he started to throw my ball around for me. I just love my Uncle John.
Even when everyone else started to go inside to eat, I still wanted to play with my Uncle. Can you see the concentration on my face. I really, really want him to throw the ball!
Of course, a dog can only play fetch for so long, so then I'm off to the lake for a swim. The geese weren't on the lake that day, which disappointed me. I love to chase the geese off the water.
This picture was taken when I was supposed to be getting in our car to head home, but I wanted to check out the creek that runs behind the lake. There's a beaver that lives back there, and I sooo want to catch him!
Ahhh, nothing beats spending time at my Grandparents house. I can't wait to go there and visit again!!

International Goody Exchange and Grandparents

Hey Pals, I'm finally back home. Actually, I got back on Monday night, but Mom has been a bit slow at blogging. What can you expect from a human, huh?
While I was gone at my Grandparents, my International Goody Exchange package from Niamh arrived! Woo Hoo!
I just knew this package was for me and I was trying to chew the darn thing open. Why do we have these crazy paws that can't open anything?!!
To keep me from eating the whole box, Mom stepped in and cut it open. I immediately dug in!! Mom's picture taking isn't as fast as me, as by the time she took this picture, I had already taken something out of the box. He he!!
Away I went with my super cool new tug/chew toy.
I took my new toy over to my bed where I started in on the tag (which Mom promptly removed) and then tried to break open the tennis ball in the middle. Man, can I say what a strong tennis ball that is? I've been chewing for two days and have been unable to break it. Grrrr....
Mom decided to show me what else was in the package. Foodables!! So yummy! I got a bag of natural chicken treats which are so delish!
I also got a bag of lamb fillet squares. Trust me pals, these are to die for!! I actually ripped the bag open and stole a few out!
Mom managed to snap one picture of me with all my treats and the beautiful card Niamh included. Thank you so much Niamh, I love all of my treats and toys. You were so very generous and caring!!!!
Also, a huge thank you to Mr. T-Bone Beasley and Chef for organizing the International Goody Exchange. I think it was a HUGE success. You two and your families were the BEST for organizing this!!!
My weekend at Grandma and Grandpa's was so much fun. I played for hours with Angel and Jordan the Golden Retrievers that live next to my Grandparents. I even got Spencer, their 12 year old Airedale to play a bit. He usually wants nothing to do with me. Of course, Grandma didn't take any pictures, she doesn't realize how important these are to my blog, so all I can do is share what we did. I had tons of walkies with both Grandparents and I played a ton with my Uncle John. Whenever I got hot, I would just run on down to the lake and jump in and cool off. I also spent a ton of time in the neighbors horse barn. They let me come with during the horsies feeding time and I got to chase the barn cats around!
We had one major incident during the weekend. On Saturday, a tornado came right across the street from my Grandparents house. Over the years there have been several close calls, but never have they seen an actual tornado, until Saturday. Uncle John and Grandma saw it out in the farm field and they watched as it came closer. Grandma gathered me and Spencer up and we all went into the basement. Grandpa even came down with us (Mom says in all her years he NEVER took cover during a tornado warning). Uncle John watched out the window as the tornado crossed the field and stayed along the road a couple acres up from the house. Then it split into two twisters before regrouping and heading further down the road. Grandma and Grandpa were very lucky as they had NO damage to their house or land. A few of the houses and barns down the street had some damage, but nothing major. We were all so happy that there was minimal damage and no injuries, but I never, never want to go through that again! OMD, I survived a tornado! WOAH!
I thought I'd share a picture Mom took of Spencer when she picked me up. Looks like Mr. Mature 12 year old decided to be BAD. Once a digger always a digger. He he! He doesn't even try to look embarrassed for getting caught while digging.
I hope you are all doing well, and I'll be out to your blogs to see what you've all been up to real soon!!

'Till next time,
Kirby

Off to Grandma's house

Hi Pals,

I'm loaded up into the car and heading off to Grandma & Grandpa's house for the weekend.
Mom and Dad are heading up to Minneapolis for the weekend, so I'm spending some quality time with my grandparents. I'll just have to make do with swimming in their lake and running all over their ten acres. Life sure is tough for this dog. I'll see you all on Monday when I'm back and blogging!

'Till next time,

Kirby

What a Christmas!

So, Christmas morning I woke up nice and early, I was quite eager to see what Santa Paws had brought. Mom was adamant I go outside first, so I had to sit and wait for her to get ready before we could head outside. Boy, I've never been in such a hurry to get back inside!
Once we were back inside, I got a good look at our tree and all the gifts that Santa Paws brought for ME! Mom and Dad didn't do gifts for each other this year, so all those gifts under the tree are all for ME!
Here's a closer look at all of my loot. Mom wrapped most of the edible treats as she knew I would be willing to open those. The rest stayed unwrapped as I tend to eat the paper while I unwrap! He he!! Don't mind my deflated basketball. Dad pumped it up the next day.
I being a true foodie, headed right towards the oh so yummy rawhide's! They may be wrapped, but I know what's under that paper!
Mmmmmm, candy cane shaped rawhide, now that puts me in the spirit of the season!
Ooohhh, Bully Sticks! I just love those!
Hmmm, what else do I want to sink my teeth into? What's this everlasting treat thingy?
One of my not so exciting gifts was a new dog bed for our living room. This one has a removable cover, so Mom can wash it when it gets all icky. As you can see, I've already had a bone or two on the new bed.
Once we were done unwrapping at home, we cleaned up and headed over to Grandma and Grandpa's house. I immediately charged the tree, trying to find my gifts. I kept grabbing gifts marked for Spencer which left Spence not so happy with me. Ooopps! Grandma helped me out and made sure the gifts I opened were just for me. Wow, this is one huge beef knuckle!
Anything else under there for me? Anything with for Kirby on the tag? Anything??????
Before we ate dinner, Dad, Uncle John, Spencer and I went outside to play with Dad's remote control car. He loves to mess with Spencer and I with that car! It drives me crazy, it zips up and hits my legs and doesn't back down when I bark at it!
Spencer and I were both barking like crazy at the car, so of course we had to wrassle with one another a bit too!
Spencer is much braver than I am, he quietly stalked the car and then grabbed it. He's one tough doggie!
Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa's is a major dogapalooza. Not only are Spencer and I there, but Mom's uncle brings his two Huskies, Bailey and Stormy. Here is Stormy with her brother, Rich. Stormy and I have the BEST time together. We wrassle and play bitey face non stop.
After all that fun and food, I was wiped out and settled down for a Christmas nap. Mom said I slept the whole ride home, just like a little puppy!
I hope all my dog, cat and hammie friends all had a wonderful Christmas. I'm so grateful that we all are loved and have warm homes to spend the holidays in. Merry Christmas to you all! Now, we should get going, Mom has to sew up some of the stuffies that I got yesterday. I performed some emergency surgery. He he he!
'Till Next Time,

Visiting with Grandma and Grandpa

On Sunday, I went over to my Grandma and Grandpa's house. I love to visit there. After years of suburban Chicago living, they moved out to the country. Now they live in a super cool log house on ten acres and they have their own lake! It is dog heaven out there, trust me! Whenever I visit, we go for long walks around the lake. Mom took this shot from the back deck, see how big their yard is! This city dog loves to get out and stretch his legs.
There's the lake I love. Nothing beats jumping in for a quick dip. Since I was just groomed, Dad said the lake was off limits. I'm not sure I agree with that.
Grandma and Grandpa have their own Airedale, Spencer. Spencer will be 12 years old on Halloween. I just love Spencer. I bark and lunge at him incessantly, but he still doesn't want to play with me. Grandma says it's because he's older and just doesn't want to play anymore, but I think if I keep trying, he will eventually give in and play.
I love to run through the yard over and over again. I'm always on patrol for natures little creatures and Angel and Jordan, the golden retrievers next door.
Hmmm, maybe no one will notice if I jump in and take a quick swim. Oh, what's that Dad, NO swimming? OK, I guess.
Whatever Spencer does, I have to mimic, so when he grazes in the lawn, so do I.
One of the best things about going to Grandma and Grandpa's house is the horses next door. I love to go over and say Hi to as many of the pretty horsies. Most were out in the pens since it was such a nice fall day. Hello, Mr. Horse. Do you have a blog? I do...
Spencer visits the horses all the time, so he's not as curious as I am. Now me, I want to know everything the horses do. Here I'm asking where those delicious apples they eat are kept.
Hey, what are you doing to my Grandma? She belongs to me, I'm her favorite. Grammy, do you need help?
Some horses were still inside, well hello there big fella. So very nice to meet you.
After the horse barn, it was back to the yard. Got to roll around and act silly. I don't usually have unlimited space for my daily rolling.
Finally, I was trying to interest Grandpa in a game of tug. I hope he doesn't mind playing with my broken Wubba.
I was so sad when it was time to head home, but fear not. I'll be back in two weeks for Spencer's birthday party. Now, that will be a GOOD time!
'Till next time,
Kirby
