Run Free Parker

We learned today that my best pal Parker lost his battle with cancer this week. Over the Thanksgiving weekend it appeared that he had a stroke that was caused by complications from his tumor. After meeting with their vet, Parker's parents decided the most humane thing to do was to put him to sleep. I hope my pal is running free over the rainbow bridge and hanging out with all the wonderful dogs that have gone before him. We're sad that you're gone, but know that you are free of all pain! Run free my buddy!!

Letter to Santa Paws and DWB First Card!!!!!!!!!

I've been waiting for the perfect time to write my letter to Santa Paws, and since we put up our tree yesterday, I decided now was the time! I'm using the festive background as inspiration!

I had to think a bit as I began, but found myself distracted by the overall yumminess of my pen. Mmmmm sure tastes good!
OK, done chewing and musing, I'm ready to write...
Dear Santa Paws,

There is so much that I want for Christmas, so I’ll start from the top:

1) Santa, I want all my pals to be healthy. Lately so many of my animal friends have been ill, and it breaks my heart. Please pass along good health to all the animals of this great world, especially my pals, Jaffa, Jackson and Parker.
2) Mom and I have been reading about all the poor little animals that do not have their furever homes. I would like each and every homeless animal to find a wonderful home full of love.
3) I personally would love a little brother or sister to hang out with ALL THE TIME!
4) If you could find it, I would like a chew toy that will not break super fast. Mom gets so mad that I break all of my toys so quickly, so a super chew would be great!
5) Last, but not least, Santa, I would like to have my own steak next time Mom and Dad make them. I came across a catalog with all kinds of steaks, in case you need some assistance, you can check out the Omaha Steaks catalog. Yum yum!

I think that is all Santa. I’ll leave some oh so yummy cookies and milk (plus my favorite, cheese) out for you on Christmas Eve. Fly safely big guy and give the reindeer a pat from me!

Your Airedale Pal,
Kirby

Once I was done with my letter to the greatest person ever, SANTA, Mom and I checked the mail, and guess what?? I got my very first DWB Christmas Card! HOW COOL IS THAT?
Thank you Comet and Blu. You really freaked Mom out with your early card. She's got some work to do now! He he he!!

'Till next time,

Kirby

Names, Tails and Thanks

Asta and Perfect Tosca suggested we check out our Peculiar Aristocratic Title, I must say, I kind of like mine. I feel like royalty!

My Peculiar Aristocratic Title is:
His Noble Excellency Kirby the Dulcet of Westessexchestershire
Get your Peculiar Aristocratic Title

So, I noticed that everyone has been showing off their tails, so FINALLY, Mom got around to getting some decent shots of mine. My tail is docked, wirey and quite furry now!
It's usually up and wagging about, unless I'm scared then it's all tucked under. Please pardon the close up of my white hairs. I've had them since I was a puppy, guess they were just part of my gene pool!
I hope all my pals out there in blog land have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I thank you all for your friendship which means SOOOOO much to me.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Kirby

Thank you Noah, Tess, Lucy and Willow!

I want to send out a huge THANK YOU to Noah, Tess, Willow and Lucy for giving me this wonderful award. Mom and I love blogging, but even more we love all the friends we have made along the way. Thanks guys, this means so much to us. We're literally dancing with excitement!!

“This award is presented to a successful blogger, one who can “be the blog” - making it their own, staying with it, interacting with the readers, and just plain having fun.”
I would like to pass this onto my pal Putter. Not only is she the BEST super nanny, but she also has hilarious posts and has time to visit so many blogs. Your blog is the bestest Putter, keep up the good work!

Bath Time

So, Mom announced that she was going to take my DWB Christmas card photo this weekend. After looking me over, she decided that I was in need of a bath! Off we all went to Soggy Paws, our local self wash dog wash. Personally, I didn't think I needed a bath, but apparently, my opinion doesn't count. Mom also said she needed to rinse out the smokey smell I came back with from Scruffy & Lacie's place. She was not too happy, she said I smelled like a bar.
Up into the tub I went, and then that darn collar thingy was attached to the tub, so no escaping for me. Since Mom is busy snapping all of the pictures, Dad did the 'dirty' work.
Soon I was all lathered up and not too happy. I like being a dirty dog, I don't like getting cleaned up.
Dad was scrubbing me all over the place, I mean ALL over the place. Hey, watch your hands down there buddy!!
As they finally finished me off, I pondered running from the tub before they tried to scrub me again.
OK, I'm all clean (yuck!) and dry now, can we get out of here?
Well, I'm all clean now, hopefully Mom will approve and take my Christmas picture. When you get my card and admire how nice I look, remember what I went through to get that way. Grrrrr!
'Till next time,
Kirby

Poker Night at Scruffy's Place

Scruffy has asked me to bring some beer to his big poker night tonight. I've only had a taste or two of the good stuff, but trust me, it hasn't stopped me from going after that delicious brew!
I'm a proud Chicago dog, so I thought I'd bring some locally brewed choices. Dads favorite local beer is Goose Island, so I made some good selections, if I do say so myself. For the doggie that is looking for a fall blend, I'm bringing the Harvest Ale. Mmmm mmmm good!

For a more sedate brew, I'm bringing 312 Urban Wheat, this one is my favorite, and the most likely to be seen in my house. This one is also tops with Dads friends!
Since we are all getting ready for Christmas by writing letters to Santa Paws and all, I've chosen the Christmas Ale. Figured we could all be put in the holiday mood with a few of these.
Finally, for all those young pups out there, I'm bringing a non-alcoholic choice. Good old fashioned root beer.

Can't wait to see everyone at the poker party! Cheers to you all!!

Kirby

Aunt Amy & the basketball

Aahhh, time to play catch up. So, Mom filled you in on her business trip (aka: abandoning Kirby) and she deeply apologized for not blogging or visiting other blogs while she was gone. We're now all caught up with the quality Kirby time and I have been spoiled for the last few days, so it's time to get back to business.

A few weeks ago, Mom's best friend and fellow dog lover, my Aunt Amy came for a visit. This was the first time I've actually met Aunt Amy, but we've talked on the phone several times. I had to smother Amy with slobbery kiss after kiss. She was lavished with Kirby love over and over. Poor Aunt Amy, she's not used to a big dog jumping all over her. She has a Chihuahua named Spanky, and he's just a wee little guy. Aunt Amy tried to teach me a few of her favorite ticks, but I just wanted the treats. Hey, what can I say, I'm quite food obsessed! Over the weekend I decided to work on my basketball. See, over the last year or so, I've 'taken care' of several balls that Mom and Dad have given me. The cute play ball, kick ball, soccer ball, volleyball and several others have met their demise in my jaws. Then Mom brought home the basketball. Well folks, I thought this was my Everest. No amount of gnawing, chewing or licking could get me teeth into that ball. So, I decided to bide my time and let the air slowly sneak out of the ball, and waited till it was just slightly deflated. Then, I pounced! I could finally get my jaws around part of the ball and with consistent gnawing I did it. There was a slip of my tooth and then a satisfying pop and hiss. Then my old friend, my nemesis the basketball slowly began to collapse. All that remained was a sad slumped up ball, which Mom promptly threw away. Apparently she feels that I will eat the carcass of the ball. Whatever!! Now, the ball is gone and I'm starting to check out my giant tennis ball. Perhaps it too will go the way of the basketball.
Oh, and good news, I heard Mom and Dad talking about getting me a new basketball this weekend. Oh boy! Another toy to destroy! Yum Yum!!

'Till Next Time,
Kirby

So Sorry

Hi All,

Kirby's Mom here, and I wanted to apologize for the delay in posting. The evil corporate giant that I work for sent me to New Jersey for the last week, so Kirby has been unable to type as I am his typist. Those darn large paws just can't press the keys he wants when he tries to type. I promise we will post early this week. I'm just trying to catch up with life and spend quality time with my cutest-ever pup!

Thanks,

Kirby's Mom, aka: Kirstin

Happy Birthday Spencer!

Last weekend we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa's house to celebrate Spencer's 12th birthday. Spencer got a ton of prezzies, but he was careful to warn me off that they were his and I was not to touch them. Too bad I don't listen very well.
Spencer is a very good present opener. Unlike me, he doesn't eat the paper, he just pulls it off and gets to the good stuff inside. Spence isn't into toys anymore, so all of his gifts were food related, it was a dogs dream!
Grandma made sure I got one of Spencer's pigs ears. It was my first pigs ear, and boy, was it YUMMY!!
After prezzie opening and snacking on treats, we headed outside to work off our food. As usual, I was a crazed fool, running all over the place.
Since it was Spencer's birthday, I decided to bring him my Wubba to play with, but he wasn't interested.
Nope, Spencer is not a Wubba dog. Actually, as he's gotten older, Mom says he really doesn't play with any of his old toys anymore, but he still loves to play with his leash. He drags it around and then shakes it all about. If you throw it for him, he'll run and retrieve it.
Here I am trying to trade my Wubba for Spencer's leash. He made it seem so cool!
Spencer wasn't into giving up his leash, so I was stuck with my Wubba. Since I wanted to have some fun, I decided to do some Wubba tugging with Dad.
Whoa, Dad and I got so into tugging, I actually got AIREBORN! Look at me, that is all four off the floor!! Woo-hoo!!
Spencer and I decided to gang up on Uncle John and make him tug with us both. No way he could take both of us on!
After all of that tugging and running around, I was ready to relax and do some roachin'.
We all headed back in for some cake. Spencer is a spoiled dog who gets real 'hooman' cake. It was soooo yummy!
Before we wrapped things up, Spencer decided to show off his costume, or rather, Grandma wanted to show off his Devil Dog costume. Spence was so not happy to be dressed up. He's like me, prefers to be nice and nekid!
Happy 12th birthday Spencer. You are a terrific doggy mentor buddy, I hope all your birthday wishes come true!
'Till next time,
Kirby
