Just another agility class

So, Mom's been meaning to get some pictures of my friends from agility class, but she keeps forgetting the camera. This week though, she remembered! Here I am patiently waiting for my turn on the course. This is the hardest thing about agility, waiting for your turn. So boring!

This is Lilly, she is my bestest pal in class. We've been in every session together since last June. She is a Vizsla and is quick as can be and jumps super high! Lilly and I love to play with each other during class, even though we're not supposed to. He he!
Mom tried to get better shots of Lilly and of both of us together, but we can't sit still for too long, so these are the best she could get. Lilly and I love to play bitey face whenever we're waiting.
This was the best Mom could do to get a shot of us both, even the promise of a salmon treat couldn't slow us down for more than a second or two.
So, I've got to tell you what happened at last weeks class. For the past eight months there have been the same core group of dogs in my classes with a new dog here and there. With the newest session, there are two new dogs that are a bit aggressive. They both bark at me when we are waiting for class to start. So, I got fed up this week and when I was brought out to the starting line, I broke away and went after the other dogs! I was barking and growling and showing my teeth. Mom and Dad couldn't believe it. My teacher grabbed me by my scruff and pulled me away from the trouble I started. Mom apologized for my aggressiveness, but my assistant teacher said, I wasn't being aggressive, I was being reactive to the two dogs being aggressive with me. Mom, still felt a bit guilty about me getting all crazy, but she did agree with the reactive thing. Can't wait to see what happens this week! Grrrrr!!

'Till next time,

Kirby

I blame the other dogs, you are way to sweet to be aggressive. Agility looks like fun and your friend is way cute. Love,Neko

I don't think us airedales are agressive and we never start a fight....but we could finish it.
I hope next week will be better...

Those stupid aggressive dogs! Maybe they should get some good training before they are around us Airedales! I do the same thing, well not really. When I hear dogs barking I usually hide...those things are scary!

Hope you have a good week!

It's definitely their fault. They shouldn't have tried your patience.

Kirby,
I agree you are too sweet to be aggressive. We Airedales are tough and shouldn't be messed with. Good for you for standing your ground.
Well, we live in the Fenton area. My kids go to school across the street from Lake Fenton. (close to the Flint area but don't let my mom see that I mentioned Flint she doesn't like that word.) A play date would be cool. I really need to be around other dales again.
Have fun at class Kirby and hold your tail up high!
Here's barking at ya!

Sounds like those other new dogs are being bullies. You need to let them know you are not going to be bullied around..Good For You...High Paws!!!! Your friend looks really nice and fun to play with. I hope those other dogs leave you alone.

Hi Kirby

We think the first photo of you as you are waiting your turn for the agility is great, you are really smiling.

Hope the two dogs with attitude don't spoil your agility class this week. They need to learn some manners!

When I get fed up, I snap & eventually all hell will break loose after that. It's not my fault usually coz the dogs always take my stuff & act like monkey in my home so I have to show them who's the boss & who the stuff belongs to. It's okay Kirby. Eventhough I'm being reactive too, my mommy doesn't like my misbehavior & still corrects me. But the other dog gets much more scolding from her eventhough if it was me who started it. Whatever it is, as long it is in my home, my hoomans, my stuff & my property, they must show respect & back of a little. That's my rules! I'm the ALPHA of the house!

Wow Kirby,
I know what it's like to be in that situation. A few times while I've been on lead aggressive dogs have come up to me but I put them in their place. I'm not normally like that but I have to protect my pack. You were doing what needed to be done matie.

Hugs and tail wags

Kirbs!

You are not to blame! I'm like one of those other dogs ~ though most of the time I'm barking in greeting, some dogs mistake my loud excited barks for aggression and it could get ugly. That's why *I* haven't started agility class yet. (I'm working on it one-on-one with a new trainer.)

Hope the new dogs get some manners before coming back to class.

Goober love & smooches,
Stanley

Oh Kirby...the same thing happened to Babystan at daycare last week. The daycare lady said some dog ( a Malamute) kept humpin' Babystan's head over and over. (Um...daaaaa...stop the dog...) She said he was gettin' annoyed...and then the Malamute took his toy. Um..Mistake. Both ended up in timeout, but Babystan said he had just had it.

Faya's right...Dales don't start it, but they will finish it!!!!!

Have fun in Agility!!

Yep, we 'Dales don't usually start fights, but we WILL finish them! Your friend looks like lots of fun to play bitey-face with! Now that you have told those other dogs who is boss, maybe they will leave you alone.

Agility rocks! Try meditating when you have to wait and think about your next great move (BTW - when I was about 100 pounds smaller, I did the agility and when I went through the tunnel it looked like a big snake eating a hippo).

You show 'em Kirby! Plus you had to protect your mom.
